8 HEALTHY GIFT IDEAS FOR FATHER’S DAY: YOUR WELLNESS GIFT GUIDE

This year, give your dad the gift of health.

Finding the right Father’s Day gift can be tough. But giving a gift that promotes a healthy  experience instead of something purely materialistic (yes, we’ve given our share of Best Dad in the World mugs, too) can be a thoughtful and easy option. Our team put together eight Father’s Day gifts that we think will improve your dad’s health and tell him he’s the Best Dad in the World, no mug needed. From an order of freshly prepared food to exercise classes, we encourage you to gift creatively, and we will too.

#2 Trigger Point Performance The Grid Revolutionary Foam Roller | Tptherapy.com

81Tt6yPe--L._SL1500_Aches and pains don’t just come with age, they come from everyday wear and tear of your body, too. For the (forever young!) dad that needs a light stretching at the end of every day rather than a costly gym membership, try getting him Trigger Point’s Grid foam roller. It’s arguably the best on the market thanks to its durability, compact size, and unique design, which is meant to feel like a massage.

Price: $40

#3 Garmin VivoActive GPS Multisport Heart Rate Monitor | Garmin.com

Garmin-Vivoactive-02Wearable tech. Your dad will be bragging about you for years to come. There’s tons of options on the market, and anything that tracks heart rate and helps record sleep are great choices. But for the ultimate fitness tracker to own all other fitness trackers, we suggest the Garmin VivoActive GPS Multisport Heart Rate Monitor. It’s the best option for the dad who loves the outdoors since besides having a thin, suave display screen, the smartwatch also has a built-in GPS and solid battery life. (Not even the Apple Sport Watch has a GPS, fyi.) It can track workout progress and your dad’s workouts, runs, cycling sessions, and golf game. A more affordable option is the Fitbit Flex, priced at $100, though it’s capabilities are a bit more simple.

Cost: $220

#4 The Wild Diet by Abel James | Amazon.com

51kqH9e6XSL._SX258_BO1,204,203,200_For the dad who constantly wants to improve himself and learn about his health. We love The Wild Diet: Get Back to Your Roots, Burn Fat, and Drop Up to 20 Pounds in 40 Days by Abel James, who’s also known as the Fat-Burning Man. In the book, which is less a weight loss plan and more a guide to the good life, James shares tips for his no-processed-carbs, plant-based-heavy diet, along with tons of easy recipes. Not convinced yet? According to James, you can eat juicy burgers, chicken parmesan, and chocolate and still lose weight. We don’t disagree.

Cost: $17

 #5 Memory Foam Pillow | Amazon.com

REVIEWSSleep-Innovations-Cool-Contour-Memory-Foam-Pillow-800x416Everyone needs a good night’s sleep. Make your dad’s sleep even more optimal with a fancy memory foam pillow. While there’s tons of options out there, we suggest the Cool Contour pillow from Sleep Innovations; it has a two-layer, medium-firm design, and a cool foam comfort top that keeps you chill (literally) and relaxed all night. The ergonomic shape hugs your shoulders and neck to provide the right support for a good morning.

golf-1073465_960_720This is a creative one he probably won’t be expecting 😉 Step in at any local gym and sign your dad up for a few weeks of butt-kicking with a certified trainer. Most gyms might even have a promotion going on especially for Father’s Day. Other spins on this gift include kickboxing class, golf lessons (hey, everyone can improve their game), tennis lessons, yoga classes, cooking classes, or something he’s dreamed about forever… flying lessons?

#7 Workout Clothes | Lululemon.com

Okay,Screen Shot 2016-06-03 at 12.03.31 PM so while bordering on materialistic, we still think workout clothes are the best incentive to get out there and sweat. As mentioned in our Mother’s Day gift guide, athleisure is a great gift option since you can wear it both at the gym or on the weekends. Some brands for men’s athleisure and high-quality workout gear to check out: Lululemon, RhoneAmerican GiantUnder Armour, Old Navy.

#8 A Beginner’s Meditation Guide | Amazon.com

Life! It’s stressful. While meditation might not be at the top of your dad’s to-do list, we don’t know a single person who read Jon Kabat Zinn’s book, Wherever You Go, There You Are and didn’t have good things to say. Don’t judge the book by it’s cover. Author Kabat Zinn, who founded the mindfulness-based stress reduction (MSBR) program and currently serves as Professor of Medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, writes in an incredibly approachable, relevant, and modern way about the benefits of meditation, mindfulness, and where to start.
